Box Office: 'Coco' Tops 'Justice League' With Solid $13.3M Wednesday
Walt Disney and Pixar's Coco got off to a solid start yesterday, with a $13.242 million Wednesday gross. That includes $2.3m in Tuesday previews. The Wednesday figure is below the $15m+ likes of Frozen and Moana and just above the adjusted $13.2m gross ($11.8m in 2010) opening day for Tangled. However, it's well above the $9.8m Wednesday of The Good Dinosaur and it snagged a somewhat rare A+ from Cinemascore. Oddly enough, that's the second A+ for a major studio release in five days, after Wonder. Anyway, so far, so good.

Absence makes Utd grow fonder for Pogba
He does not yet share teammate Zlatan Ibrahimovic's cult status, but Paul Pogba's display on his comeback from injury showed his importance to Manchester United is second to none.
Having toiled in Pogba's absence, recently taking four points from a possible 12 in the Premier League, United rediscovered their swagger against Newcastle United on Saturday when the Frenchman made his return.
With a goal and an assist in a 4-1 comeback win, Pogba was the man of the match and his overall display helped United find a level they have struggled to reach during his two-month absence.
"He affects our football," summarised United manager Jose Mourinho.
"We all know, myself and the fellow players, that certain players influence the levels of the team. With him we have much more creation."
Though he has often dazzled with his long-legged technical artistry, the recognition of Pogba's influence on United's play has been slow in coming.

Black Lightning Premiere Date Announced, Will Take Legends’ Time Slot
Black Lightning premiere date announced, will take Legends’ time slot
The CW has announced that the upcoming superhero series Black Lightning will make its debut on the network on Tuesday, January 16 at 9 PM following an all-new episode of The Flash. DC’s Legends of Tomorrow will have a new date and time when it returns to the network in February.
As Black Lightning begins, Jefferson Pierce (Cress Williams) is a man wrestling with a secret. As the father of two daughters and principal of a charter high school that also serves as a safe haven for young people in a neighborhood overrun by gang violence, he is a hero to his community. Nine years ago, Pierce was a hero of a different sort. Gifted with the superhuman power to harness and control electricity, he used those powers to keep his hometown streets safe as the masked vigilante Black Lightning. However, after too many nights with his life on the line, and seeing the effects of the damage and loss that his alter ego was inflicting on his family, he left his Super Hero days behind and settled into being a principal and a dad. Choosing to help his city without using his superpowers, he watched his daughters Anissa (Nafessa Williams) and Jennifer (China Anne McClain) grow into strong young women, even though his marriage to their mother, Lynn (Christine Adams), suffered. Almost a decade later, Pierce’s crime-fighting days are long behind him…or so he thought. But with crime and corruption spreading like wildfire, and those he cares about in the crosshairs of the menacing local gang The One Hundred, Black Lightning returns — to save not only his family, but also the soul of his community.
Williams leads a cast that includes Nafessa Williams and China Anne McClain as his daughters, with Christine Adams, Damon Gupton, and James Remar. Jill Scott was cast as the villain Lady Eve.
Based on the characters from DC, Black Lightning is from Berlanti Productions and Akil Productions in association with Warner Bros. Television, with executive producers Greg Berlanti, Salim Akil & Mara Brock Akil, and Sarah Schechter. The Black Lightning character was created by Tony Isabella with Trevor Von Eeden.

Bayern's Ribery back in training after injury
Bayern Munich winger Franck Ribery returned to training on Wednesday following a six-week injury break due to a knee injury.
The 34-year-old Frenchman, at Bayern since 2007, is desperate to return to action as he battles for a contract extension at the end of the season.
Ribery tore the lateral collateral ligament in his left knee in the German champions' 2-2 draw at Hertha Berlin on October 1.
"Playing on Saturday against Augsburg is a bit early for him," the club said in a statement.
Spaniard Juan Bernat, however, who has yet to play this season after being injured during the pre-season, sounded confident of a possible return on Saturday.
"Maybe I can be part of the team at the next game," Bernat said. "I am feeling good."
Bundesliga leaders Bayern are four points clear of RB Leipzig and six points ahead of Borussia Dortmund.

Why is President forcing military women back into the kitchen?
On Thursday, November 9, 2017, President Muhammadu Buhari reconvened and inaugurated the Armed Forces Council.
During his subsequent meeting with the council, the president ratified the National Defence Policy 2017 (Revised); Harmonised Terms and Conditions of Service Officers 2017, and also inaugurated the Harmonised Terms and Condition of Service for Soldiers/Rating/Airmen (Revised), among others.According to a statement signed by Col. Tukur Gusau, Public Relations Officer to Minister of Defence, Mansur Dan-Ali, the ratifications were deemed necessary to contend with contemporary security challenges and the enhancement of welfare, command, discipline and administration of the Nigerian Armed Forces.
He said "It (the council) reviewed terms and conditions of service for officers and soldiers. It reviewed some of the retirement benefits for officers and soldiers including Defence Policy which has been obsolete since 2006 that we reviewed and discussed and reached a conclusion on them."
What Col. Gusau failed to disclose, deliberately or in error, is the recommendation 19 of the Harmonised Terms and Conditions of the Armed Forces of Nigeria.
According to a report by The Punch on Monday, November 13, the recommendation read, "Phase out the training of female regular combatant cadets."Since the creation of the Nigerian Defence Academy (NDA) in 1964, only male officers were trained as combatants until 2011 when then-President Goodluck Jonathan issued a presidential directive that females interested in becoming combatant officers for the Nigerian armed forces should henceforth be admitted into the NDA.
Before that directive was issued, women in the military had been limited to non-combat duties which statutorily limited their career path as they couldn't aspire to the highest echelon of the country's military force.
