When Kingsman: The Secret Service released in 2015, it became an instant hit. Adapted from Mark Millar’s graphic novel, it tells the story of a covert group of British secret agents saving the world from a global disaster. Its appealing characters, compelling story, and engaging action sequences made it a sleeper hit, so naturally, plans are in the works for a follow-up effort.
There’s a lot that is yet to be confirmed, as 20th Century Fox looks to reassemble the team that made the first Kingsman such an incredible action flick. But that’s never stopped the internet from speculating. Thankfully, the film’s rumors are positive, with its original creators recognizing the need for a solid part two. The action genre has gotten stale in recent years, and a full-on franchise for Kingsman will combat this trend.
Here’s what we know about the sequel so far.
Kingsman: The Golden Circle was originally confirmed to hit theaters in June 2017. Production delays ground things to a halt though, pushing the premiere all the way out to Sept. 29, 2017.
Originally, the film’s June release had it going up against Cars 3, Wonder Woman, Transformers: The Last Knight, and The Mummy. Compare that to a September schedule that’s decidedly more thin on major movies, and Kingsman 2 is set up for a huge opening weekend if all goes to plan
